"Rocking Chair" Framed Art
On her second birthday she fell asleep in my arms for the first time in a long time and I swore it was probably the last time I'd get to rock her to sleep.
Spoiler alert: it wasn't.
And sometime between enjoying those moments and wanting my evenings back I realized that rocking chair is the easiest place to feel my own mom. I envision her wrapping her arms around me as I wrap my arms around my little girl and lose myself in the overwhelming peace after a hard day of parenting.
Every evening in the rocking chair I catalog the day's mistakes, every stupid thing I said, every dilemma I need to Google advice about. And every evening in the rocking chair I remember that a hug from your own mom can sometimes fix everything. For everyone here.
"Rocking Chair"

This piece is part of a bigger collection of work inspired by my experience of being a mom- losing my own just as I was becoming one myself, the overwhelming joy (and frustration, love and unqualified-ness) of motherhood all while honoring our place within Mother Nature.
A major part of my process includes repurposing materials that would otherwise be thrown away. Because there's already enough cool stuff in the world and we don't have to start from scratch to make something new.
